Concept

手毬に施される、糸が幾何学的に重なり合う精緻な構造を、自身の内側でいったん解体し、
その本質的なイメージだけを抽出することで、弾性を宿した球体がゆるやかに姿を変えていく瞬間をかたちにした。
均整のとれた球が、わずかな歪みを孕みながら不安定で豊かな表情へと移ろう過程に、
かたちが持つ生命感のようなものを見いだしている。

By internally dismantling the intricate structure of temari, where threads overlap geometrically, and extracting only its essential image, the artist has created a form that captures the moment when an elastic sphere slowly changes shape.
In the process in which a perfectly symmetrical sphere transforms into an unstable and rich expression while carrying a slight distortion, I has discovered a sense of life that the form possesses.
